Effective Leadership: Communication and Negotiation Skills for the Healthcare Epidemiologist

SHEA is pleased to hold a half-day workshop before the conference on Tuesday, April 11, 2023, from 1:30-4:00 p.m. MT.

This workshop will feature both didactic learning and breakout group work among participants. This year’s workshop will focus on leadership and communication. Please note only those attending in person will be able to participate in the workshop.

Learning Objectives

  • Identify your most natural leadership style and barriers that may prevent you from adopting alternative leadership styles in different contexts.
  • Assess your self-awareness and reflect upon how emotions impact your performance as a leader.
  • Identify intuitions that result in preventable negotiation mistakes and describe fundamental strategies for effective negotiation.
  • Discuss silos in medicine and infection prevention and summarize strategies for resolving conflicts and improving communication.
